Designer Montana Labelle is a rising star on the Toronto design scene, but not by following trends. Labelle loves vintage furniture and handmade pieces, and she favors neutral interiors that are modern but warm and shot through with a â70s palette of rich, earthy tones. For the project featured on ELLE Decor's May 2025 cover, Labelle sourced midcentury Italian furniture and ceramics (including finds from Etsy), clad the mantel in volcanic tile, and worked with a decorative artist on custom wall treatments. A Parsons School of Design graduate, Labelle leads a 12-year-old firm that is expanding rapidly, with residential projects in Los Angeles and Miami. Her website also features her eponymous lifestyle brand with hardware, candle holders, and vases in her signature material: marble.

Understatement is her calling card, whether sheâs designing a gallery for Hauser & Wirth or a house in the Hamptons. While known for her renovations of art galleries and museums, such as Manhattan's Neue Galerie and the Clark Art Institute in Massachusetts, Selldorf is also a personal favorite of artists to design their homesâfrom Cindy Sherman to Eric Fischl.
