Anyone can walk into Uniqlo on any old day and walk out with a pile of nicely-priced menswear. But among the absolute best times to secure your fix are Uniqlo U drop days, when the first pieces from the brand's fashion-y (with a lower-case 'f') sub-label start making their way onto the physical and digital shelves. Today is one of the days. As of this week, the latest Uniqlo U fall/winter assortment has landed—and, as expected, it's better than ever.
For anyone unfamiliar, Uniqlo U is the brainchild of Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran, red-hot fashion (with a capital 'F') designers moonlighting from their day jobs at the equally hot Paris-based label Lemaire. For almost exactly a decade now, Uniqlo U has charted in the top-right corner of the “Affordable and Looks F*cking Great” graph, and this season is no exception. After a not-so-quick gander, I clocked some of the raddest sub-$100 pants on the market, a riches of outstanding outerwear, and killer knitwear aplenty.
For the most part, the full Uniqlo U fall/winter selection is available right this very moment—though the buzziest stuff tends to sell out pretty quickly, at least in key sizes. You can see the whole Uniqlo U lineup here, or keep on scrolling to eyeball our favorite picks. Oh, and pro tip: if the sizing abides, there's gold to be found in the women's section.

A layer-friendly, workwear-inspired fall jacket that might single-handedly swing our current era's Cropped Coat battle in the Non-Cropped direction.

The degree to which a bit of topography can elevate a sweater is astounding.

We're not saying these will solve all your cold-weather pant problems, but they'll go a long way.

This is the most expensive piece in the collection—by $10, relax—but there's good reason for it: it's water-resistant, sneakily-packed with a ton of fun little details, and boasts a diabolical (complementary) fit.

Wear it over a white tee until about October 26th, then take advantageof the fact that you can layer like crazy underneath it.

These are pure, unadulterated jeans (100% cotton, for those into stats), but they also will wear like chinos when the situation (or your mood) calls for such.

Exactly the number of frills required to make a messenger bag hit very hard.

Nearly all the styling versatility you'll get with something like a Harrington jacket, but with the techy performance and insulation you want from a water-resistant winter coat.

The rare piece that everyone from the half-zip curious to the half-zip devotee can get behind—mostly because it looks like one that costs 10 times the price.

Careful: once you've sampled one of Uniqlo U's famously beloved long sleeve tees, you'll be back for more every season.

It's a light jacket until December, a cardigan through February, then back to light jacket duty in March. Lotta utility to get out of $70.

If you're wondering whether you're looking at relaxed, straight-leg chinos that look just a good with sneakers as they do loafers, and which cost a mere $60, you sure are.

It can be easy to overthink the oversized shirt. With this one, don't.
